Construction of a Prefabricated Modular Building for a Thermal Disinfection and Decontamination Station for Pathogenicity Groups III–IV Effluents
01.09.2025
INEX specialists, together with the Plague Control Center, have completed the development and assembly of the UTOS-1-1000 thermal decontamination unit, which is designed to decontaminate wastewater containing biological agents of groups I-IV of pathogenicity. The unit can be used in infectious disease hospitals, veterinary facilities, microbiological laboratories, research centers, and organizations working with pathogenic biological agents.
The UTOS-1-1000 is a fully automated complex equipped with all necessary engineering systems and equipment. During the design phase, INEX specialists implemented solutions that prevent cross-contamination of reagents, including individual wastewater collection systems and flushing after each disinfection cycle. The installation is controlled automatically, with key parameters displayed in the dispatching system, and data is archived for three years.
The thermal disinfection process takes place at a temperature of at least 143 °C and a pressure of up to 0.6 MPa for at least 8 minutes. The economic efficiency is achieved through the use of a heat recovery system based on a new type of shell-and-tube heat exchanger. This solution has resulted in a reduction of energy consumption by more than 60%, with the plant consuming only 20 kW in operation.
Thanks to the optimization of the thermal circuit and the implementation of an innovative recovery scheme, the UTOS-1-1000 provides an "overkill" mode at 155 °C, which allows for the effective disinfection of wastewater containing pathogens of particularly dangerous infections.
The installation is entirely assembled using equipment from Russian manufacturers. The control and monitoring are implemented using domestic OVEN controllers, for which specialized software has been developed. To date, the UTOS-1-1000 has no analogues in the Russian Federation and neighboring countries.
